Spoken English course - May 2012

With the objective of helping the students to improve their communication skills in English and boost their confidence using English as a communication medium, Parasuram Salammal Trust organised spoken English classes for the class XI students of Allinagaram Govt. High School for the second consecutive year (Click here to view the details of the 2011 spoken English course).

A registration-cum-inaugural session was organised on March 27 in the school premises. 30 students registered enthusiastically for the program. A short orientation program about the course and its structure was conducted for the registered students. Mr. Mohan, Head of English Department, spoke about the importance of spoken English training during the orientation program. Dr. N Parasuraman, the spoken English tutor, explained to the students the methodology of the course and the targets to be achieved through the course. He also gave a few tips about the basic preparations required for the course.

The course was conducted from a month from May 2-30, 2012 in the residence of Dr. Parasuraman. 26 among the 30 registered students participated and benefited from the course. Apart from the regular lessons, discussions were held periodically during the course, in which students were encouraged to express their views in English. At the end of the course, a group discussion session in English was held and prizes were awarded to meritorious students. Prizes were also given to 4 students, who maintained 100% attendance during the course. A certificate of proficiency was also awarded to all the participating students. One of the students felt that her summer vacation was utilized fruitfully and thanked Mr. Asokan, Director of the Trust for giving her the opportunity.
