Guidance Programs

A level playing field is a basic requirement to gauge the success of any individual in this competitive world. The privatization of education and its skewed nature has been a disabling factor for students from government and other rural schools, who do not get the same exposure as their peers in private schools. "வழிகாட்டி” will be an able guide striving to provide an enabling environment through which every student can compete equally with his/her peers. Several activities would be undertaken to rectify the lop-sided nature of the competition for success among the students.

Our education system is an examination-centric system, where the knowledge and abilities of the students are judged on the basis of their scores and grades in an examination. For students in Std XII, all their efforts of making a mark in life and shaping their future boils down to how they perform in the three hours in the examination halls at the end of the year. Our endeavor would be to help the students evaluate themselves before the crucial Board examinations through model exams, which will simulate the same examination environment. The question papers of the model exams would be of equivalent standards to that of the final Board Examination and every student's answer sheet will be evaluated with detailed comments for self-improvement by well-qualified and experienced teachers.

Activity #1: Model exams
Frequency: Once a year
Calendar Months: January-February

The choice of a higher education, which determines the students’ career, is not often a well-informed choice for the students from a rural background. Their choice is based on peer interest and current trends with sometimes minimal support from their parents, who also suffer from lack of exposure and information. “வழிகாட்டி” will try to redress this grievance by offering the students information about the various career options available to them.

Activity #2: Career guidance programs
Frequency: Once a year
Duration: One day
Calendar Months: March-June
